Dickey County
'Dickey County was named for Hon. Alfred Dickey of Jamestown, at one time lieutenant governor, and
intimately connected with the early history of the territory of Dakota. It lies third from the east in the
southern tier of counties of the state. The county was first settled in 1881, organized in August, 1882,
the county seat located at Ellendale, where it has since remained. The State Industrial School is locate
