My North Dakota Diary
Dunn County
'Dunn County was named for the Hon. John P. Dunn, on of the earliest pioneers of western North Dakota, for many years a merchant of Bismarck, and one time mayor of the city. It was formed from unorganized territory by gubernatorial proclamation in January, 1908, following the presentation of a petition by the settlers resident therein. With its organization the roll of North Dakota's counties was completed and the last organized territory removed from the map. The county seat is at Manning on the Knife River.'
