My North Dakota Diary
Golden Valley County
'Golden Valley County takes its name from the far-famed fertile Golden Valley, which lies in the
western portion of the original county of Billings. The county is somewhat rough, but clothed with rich
grasses and the whole valley is exceptionally fertile, and permits of the general purpose farms; stock
raising combined with extensive agricultural operations are the chief industries. Beach is the county
seat.' Source: North Dakota Blue Book -- 1942
