My North Dakota Diary
Ramsey County
'Ramsey County was named in honor of the Hon. Alexander Ramsey, governor of Minnesota, United
States Senator and Secretary of War, and very prominent in the early development of the Northwest.
The land in this county is admirably adapted for general farming purposes, plentifully watered by lakes
and streams. Devils Lake is the county seat. The State School for the deaf is located here.' Source: North
